Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 25, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Jannah ("Jannah", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Jannah mobile application (the "App"), which provides prayer times, Qibla direction, Quran and dhikr tools, Islamic calendar information, and related features.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
We do not knowingly sell your personal information, and we design the App to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide and improve its features.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and Profile Information
If you choose to create an account, we collect information needed to authenticate you and operate your account, using Firebase Authentication. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, this may include:
Email address and password (for email/password sign-in)
Name, email address, and profile photo (for Google Sign-In)
Name and email address, or an anonymized relay address, provided by Apple (for Sign in with Apple)
Any profile picture, display name, or other profile details you voluntarily add or change within the App
2.2 Location Information
The App requests access to your device location (via the operating system's location services) in order to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your current or manually selected location. Location data is used to perform this calculation and, where relevant, may be cached on your device to allow offline use. We do not sell your location data and do not use it for purposes unrelated to the App's core functionality. You may also select a city manually instead of granting location access.
2.3 Usage and Diagnostic Information
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used (for example, which features are opened and how often) so that we can maintain and improve the App. This may include general usage events, session information, and approximate, coarse location derived from your IP address. We do not currently use a dedicated crash-reporting tool such as Firebase Crashlytics; if we introduce one in the future, we will update this Policy accordingly.
2.4 Device and Technical Information
We may automatically collect technical information such as device model, operating system and version, app version, language and locale settings, and unique or advertising identifiers assigned by your device or app stores, in order to operate, secure, and improve the App.
2.5 Photos and Media
If you use features that let you add a profile picture, share a story, or attach an image to a calendar event, the App will request access to your camera and/or photo library to let you select or capture that image. We only access media you explicitly choose to share through these features.
2.6 Purchase and Subscription Information
Premium subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play billing systems and managed with the help of our subscription platform, RevenueCat. We receive subscription status and entitlement information (for example, whether you have an active subscription, its renewal date, and platform) so that the App can unlock premium features. We do not receive or store your full payment card details, which are handled entirely by Apple or Google.
2.7 Notifications
The App can schedule local notifications on your device (for example, prayer time and dhikr reminders) which do not require transmitting data to us. If you enable push notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging, which assigns your device a messaging token used to deliver notifications to you.
2.8 Content You Submit
If you use in-app features such as feedback submissions, quizzes, or community content, the information you enter (for example, feedback text or quiz answers) is stored in our database (Cloud Firestore) and associated with your account so that we can respond to you or maintain your progress.
3. How We Use Your Information
To provide core App functionality, including prayer times, Qibla direction, and Quran and dhikr tools
To create, maintain, and secure your account
To schedule and deliver notifications you have enabled
To process and manage premium subscriptions
To operate, troubleshoot, and improve the App and develop new features
To display advertisements to non-premium users
To respond to support requests and feedback
To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
To comply with legal obligations
4. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following bases:
Performance of a contract, to provide the App and features you request, including your account and subscription
Consent, for optional features such as location access, push notifications, camera/photo library access, and personalized advertising, which you may withdraw at any time
Legitimate interests, to maintain, secure, and improve the App, provided those interests are not overridden by your data protection rights
Legal obligation, where processing is required to comply with applicable law
5. Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements to users who do not have an active premium subscription. AdMob and its advertising partners may use device identifiers (such as advertising IDs) and similar technologies to serve ads, including personalized ads based on your interests, subject to your device's advertising permissions and settings. You can limit ad personalization through your device's privacy settings, and premium subscribers do not see advertisements.
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
With service providers that help us operate the App, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud messaging, analytics, remote configuration, and storage), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Google AdMob (advertising)
With Apple and Google, as the platforms through which the App is distributed and through which purchases are processed
If required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jannah, our users, or others
In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality safeguards
With your consent, for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection
7. Data Retention
We retain account and profile information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Location data used for prayer time calculation is processed transiently and, where cached locally for offline use, remains on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Aggregated or anonymized usage data may be retained for longer periods for analytical purposes.
8. International Data Transfers
We use service providers, including Google Firebase, whose infrastructure may process and store data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards implemented by our service providers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognized under applicable data protection law, to help ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.
9. Data Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including access-controlled databases secured with authentication-based security rules, and encrypted transmission of data between the App and our service providers. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
10. Your Privacy Rights
10.1 If You Are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure of your data; restrict or object to certain processing; request a portable copy of your data; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
10.2 If You Are a California Resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"), you may have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; request deletion of your personal information; request correction of inaccurate personal information; and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
10.3 All Users
Regardless of your location, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us using the details in Section 15. We will respond to verifiable requests within the time required by applicable law.
11. Managing Permissions
You can manage or withdraw the App's access to your location, camera, photo library, and notifications at any time through your device's operating system settings. Disabling certain permissions may limit or disable related features, such as automatic prayer time calculation or reminders.
12. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at the email address below with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Upon a verified request, we will delete your account and associated personal data within a reasonable period, except for information we are required to retain by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. Note that deleting your account does not automatically cancel any active premium subscription; subscriptions must be canceled separately through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings used to purchase them.

13. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 15.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers and devices support a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to such signals, the App does not currently respond to them.
15. Third-Party Links and Content
The App may reference, link to, or display content from third-party sources (for example, Islamic reference content). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after a change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
